It was a scintillating affair in Los Angeles on Sunday Night as two AFC West heavyweights collided. Kansas City Chiefs rallied back from four points downs in the last minute to seal a comeback 30-27 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce were at their usual best as the pair combined for three endzone plays between them.
The Chargers also had some bright spots over the 60 minutes of football action. Second-year wide receiver Josh Palmer recorded two receiving Tds in the game, his firsts since Week 2 against the same opposition.

Chiefs are 2-0 against the Chargers this year. The game was played at the packed Sofi Stadium.
Let’s look at the highlights from the game:
1) Los Angeles Chargers start strong, lead in first half
On their third play, quarterback Justin Herbert found second-year receiver Joshua Palmer wide-open for a 50-yard touchdown. Palmer’s 50-yard touchdown reception gave the Chargers a 7-3 lead and was his first receiving touchdown since Week 2 against Kansas City. But Travis Kelce increased Chiefs’ lead to 13-0. Then running back Austin Ekeler made it 17-13 for the home team to go into half-time with a good lead for them.
2) The Elite combination of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce
The duo of Mahomes and Kelce once again found ways to take the Chiefs’ to the finish line. The two combined for three TDs in the game, one in the second quarter and two in the final quarter of the game. The final scoring play came in just 1:15 minutes during which the Chiefs’ covered 75 yards in just six plays. For the second time in his career, Kelce scored at least three touchdowns.

3) Kansas’s Offense is still the best in the league despite missing key players
Before the game, Head Coach Andy Reid revealed that JuJu Smith Schuster and Mecole Hardman will be missing the game. This was seen as a major blow for the league’s best offensive side. But the team had a good game on this end as they outscored their opponents on both ends, passing and rushing. In 10 games, Chiefs’ have recorded an average of 429 total yards per game.
4) How good is Justin Herbert?
The 2020 NFL Rookie of the Year tied his best passing % of the year by completing 76.6% of his 30 passes for two touchdowns and one interception. Herbert connected twice with WR Palmer and kept them competitive throughout the game. It was his interception with just 25 seconds left that gave the win to the Chiefs.
