UNHCR goodwill ambassador and Hollywood actor Ben Stiller, who visited Poland to meet refugees has now also visited Ukraine, the UN agency confirmed, reported BBC.

He landed in Rzeszow, southern Poland, on Saturday and is touring the region to emphasize the needs of refugees fleeing the conflict in Ukraine, according to the UNHCR.

He visited refugee families fleeing the war in Ukraine while in Poland.

The actor wrote in an Instagram statement, “Millions have been forced to flee their homes, with over 90% being women and children. I’m here to learn, to share stories that illustrate the human impact of war, and to amplify calls for solidarity… Everyone has the right to seek safety. Whoever. Wherever. Whenever.”

Angelina Jolie, a UN goodwill ambassador who visited Lviv in April, is one of the previous celebrities to visit Ukraine.

On the ground in Ukraine, according to the Russian state-owned RIA news agency, Russia’s defence ministry says its forces have eliminated 10 howitzers and up to 20 military equipment supplied by Western countries in Mykolaiv during the last 10 days.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky paid a visit to the southern city yesterday during a rare journey away from the capital Kyiv.

He observed destroyed buildings and met soldiers, officials, and health professionals while visiting the rebel city of Mykolaiv.

The Ukrainian president also paid a visit to Odesa, which has been subjected to Russian fire since the war began.

Both cities are priorities in Russia’s attempt to seize control of the Black Sea coast.

Zelensky has met with world leaders on a regular basis in Kyiv after Moscow withdrew its soldiers from the capital city, deciding to refocus its efforts on seizing the eastern Donbas region.

However, he has resisted Russian soldiers by visiting locations where fighting has erupted, and in recent weeks has attended other front-line cities, including Kharkiv in the east.
