The Nobel awards were started by Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel. He was also the inventor of dynamite. The first Nobel award was given in 1901, five years after his death.

Each Nobel prize is worth 10 million kronor, which is equivalent to $900,000. Every Nobel prize laureate is also awarded with a diploma and gold medal on December 10, which is the date when . Alfred Nobel died in 1896.

According to Nobel, the prize should go to “the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”

Some additions to Alfred Nobel’s award categories were made. The economics award, which is officially known as the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, wasn’t created by Nobel. It was created by Sweden’s central bank in 1968.

It is very difficult to find out in advance about a Nobel Prize winner as the Nobel statutes prohibit the judges from discussing their deliberations for 50 years.
