Late on Monday, two weeks after the country’s deadliest earthquake in recent times left tens of thousands of people dead, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake slammed southern Turkey close to the Syrian border, causing panic and further destroying buildings.

The Hatay province in southern Turkey, which was the area most severely impacted by the latest earthquake, was struck by this one. According to the Guardian, the earthquakes began to shake the village of Defne a few minutes after 8 PM local time. Videos that are going viral on social media show civilians scurrying for cover.
