United States Department of Defense shrugged off reports that said American intelligence helped to kill Russian generals. The United States has been avoiding direct intervention in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

John Kirby, the spokesperson for the Pentagon, said that the United States does not “provide intelligence on the location of senior military leaders on the battlefield or participate in the targeting decisions of the Ukrainian military“, AFP reported.

Kirby clarified that America’s intervention in the conflict was limited to supplying aid to Ukraine. The aid can be delivered in the form of money, weaponry, or humanitarian assistance.

Officials from the Department of Defense have not yet confirmed how many Russian generals have died in the ongoing conflict so far. Media reports suggest that at least 12 senior officials from Russia’s military have died.

Meanwhile, an unnamed United States official said that the United States has provided “a range of intelligence” to Ukraine to help destroy the Russian missile cruiser Moskva. The incident was considered to be a major loss to Moscow in the ongoing conflict.

The administration of US President Joe Biden has ramped up intelligence sharing with Ukraine alongside the shipment of arms and missiles to help it repel Russia’s invasion, according to reports from Associated Press.

The disclosure of United States’ support in the Moskva strike comes as the White House is under pressure from Republicans to do more to support Ukraine’s resistance and as polls suggest Americans question whether President Joe Biden is being tough enough on Russia.

The White House has reportedly distanced itself from any direct military involvement in Ukraine since February 24, when the Russian offensive was launched. US and other NATO allies have attempted to not provoke Moscow into an all-out war.
