Possible new card sets based on the legendary Pokemon Dialga and Palkia have been hinted at by newly filed trademarks for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (PTCG). This news comes only a few months before the release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl on Nintendo Switch, which are remakes of the Gen 3 Legendaries’ premiere.

In 2021, the value of Pokémon cards is quickly increasing. Some retailers, such as Target, were compelled to temporarily remove Pokémon cards off their shelves in order to prevent scalpers from taking them. However, scalpers continue to break apart Pokémon Trading Card Game packs in shops, defying the purchasing limitations of numerous retailers. The issue does not look to be going away anytime soon, but that will not prevent new cards from being published this year, as seen by the recent release of the Evolving Skies expansion.

Another Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion featuring Dialga and Palkia might be published in the near future, based on new trademarks. It has been reported by PokéBeach that two new Japanese trademarks for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, “Time Gazer” and “Space Juggler,” have been registered. As PokéBeach points out, trademarks are generally found five to six months before they’re utilized in published work. Even if a Pokémon card game expansion is in the works, it’s not likely to arrive until spring 2022.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are expected to contain new Dialga and Palkia forms, according to fan speculations concerning the games’ Nintendo Switch box art and unrevealed pre-order bonuses. Rumors such as this should be treated with caution since there have been several instances where alleged leaks have not materialized as expected. It’s possible that the new Legendary forms are real.

If new forms for time and space Pokémon are created, it would make sense for them to appear in the Pokémon TCG expansion. For obvious reasons, they would make excellent mascots for a hypothetical Time Gazer and Space Juggler expansion. With Dialga and Palkia’s popularity at an all-time high with the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes on the horizon, the pair may appear in a new Pokémon card set worth a fortune to scalpers and collectors.
