Neymar has received a ‘reassuring’
prognosis in the X-ray result to his injured ankle after being stretchered off
in a weekend League 1 match, French side Paris Saint Germain said on Monday,
AFP reported.

The announcement might occur to be good
news for the Parisian club after a bad night on Sunday, losing out of their
number one spot in the league table to Lille as well as conceding a defeat at
home to Lyon by a score of 1-0.

“The clinical opinion following a
left ankle sprain sustained last night, is reassuring,” AFP further quoted
the club as saying.

With injuries, suspensions and COVID-19 infections
ravaging the club, coach Thomas Tuchel’s position has become increasingly
uncertain, who will be certainly looking forward to facing a troubled Barcelona
squad received as opponents as a result of Monday’s Round of 16 draw.

The match appears before PSG as a
potential chance to avenge their 2017 ‘Remontada’ defeat to Barcelona.

In the 2017 campaign, PSG, after
defeating the Catalonian team by a margin of 4-0 in Paris, were thrashed with a
6-1 defeat in Camp Nou, Barcelona’s home ground.

Backed by Qatar Sports Investments, PSG
are yet to win the Champions League trophy, largely claimed to be Europe’s
biggest footballing prize.

In the 2019-2020 season, PSG reached the
finals of the European championship where they lost to a sole goal
differentiating the two sides, scored by Bayern player and PSG academy-product,
Kingsley Koman.
