Chasing a mammoth 224-run target against Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals appeared to have lost steam despite Sanju Samson (85) going strong.  Haryana all-rounder Rahul Tewatia, who was pushed up the order to provide momentum to the run chase, struggled initially. TV commentators questioned the Rajasthan Royals’ decision to send Tewatia, who could score just 8 runs from the first 19 balls he faced, ahead of experienced Robin Uthappa.

With the asking run rate jumping with each delivery, Tewatia suddenly shifted gears. In the next 12 balls he faced, the 27-year-old hit seven sixes and scored 45 runs taking Rajasthan Royals on the verge of an incredible victory. Tewatia (53 of 31 balls) was finally dismissed in the 19th over.

Twitter lauded Tewatia’s amazing feat:

Sunday’s game between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab was played at Sharjah where sixes have been raining this IPL. In the two matches played at the stadium so far, 62 sixes have been hit. While the other two venues – Dubai and Abu Dhabi – have seen 32 and 33 sixes in total seven matches played at these two stadiums.
