Singapore “cruise to nowhere” was halted after a false threat of coronavirus, officials said on
Thursday. The 83-year-old passenger, who tested positive for COVID-19 on day three of the four-day cruise, tested negative in his second test. Due to the positive test, the non-stop voyage halted. The cruise carried 1,680 guests and 1,148 crew members.

The global cruise restarted after
months long of coronavirus started last month from city’s state and was about
to end at the same stop, reported AFP.

This false
alarm kept everyone remained stuck in their cabins for hours while the old man
was taken to the hospital.

After the
health ministry conducted a third and last test on Thursday, it was proven that
the old man was not COVID-19 positive, his results came negative.

“We have rescinded the quarantine orders of his close contacts,
who had earlier been placed on quarantine as a precautionary measure while
investigations were ongoing,” the ministry said.

The Singapore tourism board said the pilot “cruise to
nowhere” sailings aimed at reviving the hard-hit tourism sector will
continue, and praised the swift response to the incident.
