George
Cacioppo, the senior Vice President of the team working on PlayStation, has been
fired from his post, after being allegedly caught in a paedophilia sting video,
posted on YouTube. As per the video, put up on the People v. Preds channel, Cacioppo
allegedly attempted to set up a meeting with a 15-year-old boy.

According
to the channel, which exposes sexual predators who meet people online, Cacioppo,
a 64-year-old, tried to meet the minor at 4:30 AM. Reports suggest that
Cacioppo met the decoy on Grindr, a dating app for gay, bi, trans, and other
queer folk. He gave his name as ‘Jeff’ and exchanged pictures. The alleged
perpetrator went to the extent of giving his address to the decoy minor, for
sex.

In
the video, which has raked up a significant number of views, we see a cameraman
walking towards Cacioppo, who can be seen wearing a PlayStation 5 tee. He calls
the senior Vice President ‘Jeff’ and asks him who he is planning on meeting.
The cameraman lets Cacioppo know that they can have a conversation, or he can
call the cops. The latter turns and goes back to his house, followed by a volley
of threats from the cameraman, about informing the police.

Currently,
law enforcement is involved, and Adam Sharki, a spokesperson for the San Diego
Police Department said there is an active investigation being spearheaded by the
San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).

Notably,
Cacioppo has not been formally charged and has refused to comment on the matter.
His employee records show that he served as the senior Vice President of
engineering and had been working with the PlayStation team for over eight
years. Sony stated that the company was aware of the situation, and Cacioppo’s
position within the organization had already been terminated.
