The Marvel Cinematic Universe has sparked a lot of debate, but no MCU film has gotten as much attention as Spider-Man: No Way Home. Fans have been buzzing about Jon Watts’ latest film, with viewers incredibly excited to see what’s in store for them.

Since the film’s announcement, a slew of rumours and fan theories have flooded the internet, speculating on a variety of possible plot twists, especially as fans anticipate more multiversal options and the return of previous Sony Spider-Man characters. These leaks or speculative pieces have occasionally gone in unexpected directions, suggesting that audiences may be in for a wild ride.

Alligator Loki

Alligator Loki, who first appeared in Loki, is a relatively new addition to the MCU and is widely regarded as one of the most awesome on-screen crocodilians. According to a Reddit theory, the crocodile will appear in the film, as actor Paula Newsome was superimposed over Alligator Loki in the teaser.

The plot of Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse brings Spider-Ham in the picture, an animal version of Marvel heroes and villains from a different universe. If Alligator Loki is from the same realm as the pig wall-crawler, the crocodile could be a simple way to bring in a live-action Spider-Ham into the story.

The Captain America Statue Of Liberty

Captain America’s disappearance has put a damper on the MCU, forcing the citizens to adjust to life without one of their most powerful heroes. Through museum exhibits and stage musicals based on his exploits, the star-spangled man continues to be remembered. According to a Reddit rumour, No Way Home will include a tribute to Steve Rogers.

The Villains Haven’t Switched Universes – Peter Has

What is the significance of the title Spider-Man: No Way Home? It’s an obvious question that few people seem to be asking.

Doc Ock, Electro, and the rest of the old Spider-Man movie villains appear to have crossed over from their universes into Peter Parker’s, according to popular belief. But what if this isn’t true?

Both of the previous MCU Spider-Man films’ titles (Homecoming and Far From Home) referred to Spidey himself. Homecoming was a reference to Peter’s school’s homecoming dance (as well as the character “coming home” to Marvel Studios), whereas Far From Home described Peter’s scenario in the film: he’s literally “far away” from his American home after going on a school trip to Europe.

It is logical to assume that No Way Home is also a reference to Peter, and that it’s him, not the villains, who finds himself travelling through parallel universes, unable to return home.

Ned Becomes The Hobgoblin

In the comics, Peter’s friends have a bad habit of turning against him. From his schoolmate Harry Osborn to his childhood friend Eddie Brock, the comic-book hero has seen them all become villains. According to a bizarre Reddit fan theory, the MCU Peter will suffer a similar fate, with the wall-friend crawler’s Ned Leeds becoming the nefarious Hobgoblin.

While it may seem unlikely, Ned’s comic counterpart has previously assumed this role. Jacob Batalon has been losing weight for the film, according to Twitter user @StiltedBilted, which could indicate that he is changing in the story as well.

Doctor Strange Is Actually Agatha Harkness

Strange, who is in charge of protecting the Earth from inter-dimensional threats, isn’t one to take unnecessary risks. Despite Wong’s warnings, the sorcerer’s scenes in the film’s teaser paint a different picture, as the wizard is willing to perform a dangerous spell. Strange’s behaviour could be explained by Twitter user @claytonwh18, who speculates that he is actually Agatha Harkness taking on Strange’s form.

Kevin Feige has also hinted at Agatha’s return in the past, making this theory very plausible.
