Nepal
and China on Tuesday announced Mount Everest’s revised height after a joint
evaluation of world’s highest peak, which is now 8,848.86 metres.

The
Nepal government decided to measure the exact height of the mountain after
questions pertaining to change in its height arose after grisly earthquakes of
2015.

Nepal
recalculates the height of Mount Everest at 8848.86 metres, the country’s
Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali announced, reported PTI

The new
height is 86 cms more than the previous measurement.

According to Survey of India’s 1954 measurements, Mt. Everest is 8,848 metres.
