Can you spot the curved lines in this image?

The internet was left baffled when Laurel Coons, a genomics researcher, first posted this picture with the text ‘Find the curved line’.

Optical illusions are meant to do just that. They deceive us into seeing something other than what actually exists, pick our brains, confuse and fascinate us, and leave us wanting for more.

The image appears to be that of a granite block divided into smaller blocks by thin green lines. At the first glace, multiple curved lines can be seen, but as one looks closer, those lines seem straight as a scale.

Some other noteworthy optical illusions that left internet users scratching their heads were the blue or white dress, the photo of a girl seemingly sinking into concrete, that of a dog (which appeared like a man) running into snow, or the face art by artist Mimi Choi that featured dozens of lips, noses and eyes.

Earlier, in an interview with the Bustle, Choi had said, “I realized illusion makeup requires a special kind of precision and skill and is the most challenging style I ever tried.”
