Bharatiya Janta Party member Rumysa Rafiq on Wednesday hosted
a national flag at Lal Chowk in Anantnag,  to mark the occasion of abrogation of
article 370’s anniversary in Jammu and Kashmir, reported ANI.

On August 5, 2019, the Centre
scrapped Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that granted
special status to the then state of Jammu and Kashmir. A bill was introduced in
the Parliament to bifurcate the state into two union territories.

The security has been beefed-up in Jammu and
Kashmir and a 2-day curfew has been imposed in Srinagar, to prevent some
terrorist outfits from marking the day as a ‘Black Day’ also to keep a check on
the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic that has swept the UT. According to a
circular issued the district magistrate, the section 144 has been imposed for
August 4 and 5.

Since the abrogation of the Articles, a number of
state laws were scrapped and both union territories got lieutenant governors
after the bifurcation came into effect on October 31, 2019.
