Son Heung-min, originally for South Korea, scored a game-changing goal to push Tottenham into the final of the League Cup and secure a 2-0 win against Brentford on Tuesday. 

Exceptional performance by the French football player, Moussa Sissoko, in the semi-final also helped the team make its place in the final of this season. 

Son Heung-min scored the knockout goal with 20 minutes remaining in the match and put his team in a stronger position.

The second finalist will be decided after the second semi-final of the season where Manchester United go against Manchester City on April 25. The winner will face Tottenham in the final. 

Tottenham will be playing their first domestic final after 2015 after losing against Chelsea. 

Jose Mourinho, the head coach of the and the manager of Tottenham, hopes to get his team their first major trophy after the 2008 League Cup. 

Mourinho has proved his caliber as a coach by winning the League four times. He helped Chelsea secure their first in 2005 and twice more. He also led Manchester United to the title in 2017. 

After Ron Saunders and Ron Atkinson, Jose Mourinho is the only manager to make it to the final with three different teams.

Mourinho was expected to pick Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in a team that had five changes as he called the semi-final “the biggest game of his reign”. 

Brentford defeated clubs like Newcastle, West Bromwich Albion, Southampton and Fulham to secure a place in their first semi-final of this league. 

The celebrations of Brentford soon turned into a shock as the striker’s knee caught in offside. To Tottenham’s advantage, Son Heung-min scored a knockout goal in the 70th minute. 

Son, who scored his 16th goal in the season, was assisted by Tanguy Ndombele with a brilliant pass.  

Josh Dasilva was sent off the field in the 84th minute for a studs-up foul against Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, which caused a bloody injury to the player.
