Multinational ride-hailing company Uber, on Tuesday, announced that corporate employees can have their voluntary work from home policy extended through June 2021. The company in a statement to Business Insider said, “As a company built on flexible working policy, we want to provide our team with flexibility, choice and longer term clarity so they can plan ahead.”

Uber will also provide $500 stipend to the employees, helping them to set up workplace at their homes.

The employees can return to their offices if any local office opens before June 2021. The decision to work from home or not is up to the employees and it won’t affect their performance review.

The Business Insider report said the company will reevaluate the policy of possible extension in 2021 spring, however, the current policy will not be shortened.

The ride-hailing company is offering financial guides to the company cab drivers. It has also launched a website for drivers to find other forms of employment if they are unable to make same amount of money as they were in March, before the coronavirus pandemic hit the demands for ride sharing. Meanwhile, no announcement has been made regarding the stipend of drivers currently.

Earlier, tech giants Google and Facebook also extended their work-from-home policies up to 2021.
