A few zoo officials at a local zoo in the United
Kingdom
were left dazed and confused after a mysterious animal was spotted swimming
in a mongoose enclosure. The Folly Farm Adventure
Park and Zoo, Wales, United Kingdom was alerted by a group of zookeepers after
a visitor had spotted the strange creature in a banded mongoose enclosure during
the weekend. After zoo authorities were alerted, a hunt for the creature soon
began, only to find out a toy crocodile floating in the pond.

In a viral post shared on Facebook, many
internet users had varied speculations regarding the creature. Zoo officials
too, had various theories in mind, including the famous Scottish legend of the Loch
Ness monster. Zoo officials also added that some of them had initially thought the
creature was a water lizard.

It was only after a team of
investigators was deployed by the zoo, that the team confirmed the creature was
a rubbery toy. Soon after the discovery, zoo officials breathed a sigh of relief,
and the incident became a hilarious anecdote on a gloomy Monday morning.

The Facebook post
shared by the local zoo in Kilgetty, Wales, has amassed over a thousand likes
and various shares.

The incident intrigued
many, and some people decided to visit the zoo after the event had occurred. Others

had gone viral after a woman from Ramsbottom, England spotted a “mysterious animal”
in her backyard. As the story spiralled, so did the speculations. While some
thought it was a chubby squirrel, others thought the animal was a native
Australian rodent. It was only after a zoology expert from Chester Zoo, United
Kingdom
, stepped in to clear the air. The expert found out that the mysterious
creature was merely an overweight rat, with a fat tail that had confused the
woman.
