While authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident, Zelensky had visited Izium earlier on Wednesday. His trip to the northeastern region of Kharkiv came five days after Ukraine recaptured the city from Russian control.

Zelensky, in a video on his Telegram channel said, “Earlier, when we looked up, we always looked for the blue sky. Today, when we look up, we are looking for only one thing — the flag of Ukraine”. The leader added, “Our blue-yellow flag is already flying in the de-occupied Izium. And it will be so in every Ukrainian city and village. We are moving in only one direction — forward and towards victory.”

On the day of the accident, Zelensky’s usual video address regarding the war arrived a little while later, possibly because of the earlier incident.

Zelensky recently noted that the armed forces of Ukraine are heading towards victory, and said “Remnants of occupiers and sabotage groups are being detected, collaborators are being detained, and full security is being restored”, continuing,”It is very important that together with our troops, with our flag, ordinary, normal life enters the de-occupied territory”.

Ukraine has made solid strides in Kharkiv and Kherson, in taking occupied land back from the Russians, leading many to believe that this might be the definitive point where the eastern European nation turns the tides of war in their favour.
