Wangjing Tentha assembly constituency has Paonam Brojen Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on M. Hemanta Singh of the Indian National Congress (INC) and Usham Manglem of the National People’s Party this year in the Manipur assembly elections.
Paonam Brojen Singh of the INC had won the Wangjing Tentha seat in 2017 when the INC swept Manipur winning 28 of Manipur’s 60 assembly seats. Singh had beaten his closest rival Moirangthem Hemanta by over 1,863 votes. Hemanta had contested that election on a BJP ticket.
In 2012, the seat was won by Paonam Brojen Singh of the MSCP.
Wangjing Tentha falls under the Thoubal district and the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of 28 assembly seats.

Lorho S. Pfoze of Naga People’s Front represented Outer Manipur as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Pfoze defeated Houlim Shokhopao Mate from the BJP with a margin of 73,782 votes.

The Wangjing Tentha assembly constituency voted in the second phase of the Manipur elections on March 5, 2022, along with 21 other constituencies.
Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including Uttar Pradesh.
