Brisbane Heat player Ben Laughlin on Friday took an
extraordinary leaping catch to dismiss Michael Nasser of the Adelaide Strikers,
getting an enormous applause from the crowd.

With Heat batsman Marcus Labuschagne picking up three
wickets in the match as an off-spinner, the Brisbane-based team won the game, defeating
the Strikers by six wickets and with seven balls to spare.

The highlight of the match, however, had to be the
Laughlin catch – as a nearly impossible aerodynamic display from the veteran made
both the commentators and the audience jittery.

Attempting to send a full-toss delivery by Marnus
Labuschagne over the boundaries through long-on, Strikers batsman Michael Nasser
almost cleared the two fielders of the bowling side – Laughlin as well as Sam
Heazlett – but could not due to Laughlin’s impressive fielding display, as the
latter took a leap mid-air, stretching his body before catching the ball in one-hand.

As the crowd erupted in cheer, the commentators too
could not seem to contain themselves as they marvelled over the one-hand-wonder.

“Have a look at that!” one of the commentators exclaimed
as a replay of the feat was played.

Both the ICC and Big Bash League reacted to the
catch on their Twitter handles, with the former putting “You cannot do
this, Ben Laughlin!” as a caption to the video, while the latter relying
more on emojis to signify their state of mind.
