Argentina, powered by goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez’s three penalties saves, booked a Copa America final berth against Brazil on Wednesday. The match, a fast-paced affair, saw players from both teams creating chances and take a lead in the match. But it was in the 7th minute of the first half that Argentina took a one-goal lead with a Lautaro Martinez strike.

The chance for Martinez was created by captain Lionel Messi, who produced some early magic to pick out Martinez inside the box, only for him to find the far corner of the post.

With the match being fast-paced, it was again a wonderful sight for football lovers to see Messi weave his magic. He continued doing what he does best, dribbling around the players and either create chances for a goal or score a goal himself.

It was in the 34th minute of the game that Messi toyed with two Colombian defenders as he charged ahead. Watch the video here:

As far as the match is concerned, after enjoying a lead for the most part of the match, Argentina let go of their lead with Luis Diaz equalising for Colombia in the 61st minute of the match.

This happened after Argentina nearly doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time when Nicolas Gonzalez powered a header from a Messi corner goalwards, with Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina guiding the ball over the bar.

After Colombia equalised, Argentina brought on Angel Di Maria for Gonzalez and the tricky winger immediately brought more urgency to his side’s attack. But Di Maria and Martinez missed yet another golden chance to give their team a lead.

In the stoppage time, Messi had a chance to score and take his team into the final but his freekick only found the Colombian wall.

In the match, Colombia conceded six yellow cards during the match. They even Messi multiple times. But it was Frank Fabra’s 55th-minute tackle that got the Argentine captain on the ground and in pain. The tackle also left him with a bleeding ankle.

The Barcelona talisman finished the game with nine successful dribbles, five key passes, two big chances created, one assist and one penalty converted.

Argentina’s opponent, Brazil defeated Peru 1-0 in the first semi-final on Monday. This year’s Copa America could be Messi’s chance of winning his first major international title with Argentina. Previously, Messi has lost three Copa finals and the final of the FIFA World Cup in 2014.
