Sharks are considered potentially dangerous to humans. Not for Zaki Al-sabahy. In a video that has gone viral, he is seen jumping on to a whale shark in the Red Sea and attempted to ride it, clinging to its dorsal fin. While another man can be heard shouting, “Careful, it can swallow you.”
The bold stunt took place in the Red Sea, near Yanbu city in Saudi Arabia, Daily Mail reported.
The video has received over 14,000 views and social media seems to have a difference of opinion. While some called it “dangerous”, some others were seen praising Zaki. Some others also condemned the act and sought official action on Zaki.

The practice of riding whale sharks is a common practice and similar footages have emerged before, though it is discouraged by scientists and conservationists.
According to National Geographic, whale sharks are the largest type of shark, weighing about 20 tons and reaching lengths of 40 feet or more. They feed on plankton and are considered to be a gentle species and are rarely spotted in the Red Sea.
