‘Saturday Night Live’ realised that many public figures needed to apologise this week, so it gave them a chance to do exactly that. The NBC variety show joined the national roast of Senator Ted Cruz, who escaped to Cancun during an extreme winter storm in Texas. SNL also mocked governors and former ‘Star Wars’ stars in the latest episode.

The show cold opened with Chloe Fineman playing singer Britney Spears, who has been in the spotlight for her coded Instagram posts. “You all know me from my upbeat Instagram videos and the word ‘conservatorship,” Fineman as Spears said.

She was hosting a fictional talkshow ‘Oops, You Did It Again’ for celebrities on apology tours, and her first guest was Ted Cruz, played by Aidy Bryant. Drunken Bryant as Cruz acknowledged that he is not so great at “human stuff”.

Fineman’s Spears asked if Cruz would apologise for his ill-timed vacation. “I deeply regret my actions over the last couple of days,” Bryant’s Cruz said. “Mostly, flying United,” he added.

Next in line was New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, played by Pete Davidson. The character admitted he was at the show because of the “nursing home stuff.”

Last guest was Gina Carano, who was fired from Disney+’s hit series ‘The Mandalorian’ for posting offensive content on social media. She was played by Cecily Strong. “I’ve done nothing wrong. No one can even explain what I did wrong. Explain it,” Strong as Carano told Fineman’s Spears.

“Okay, congrats. You explained it,” Strong’s Carano said after Fineman’s Spears explained that she compared Nazi Germany to the current political landscape.

Bryant’s Republican Senator Cruz then tried to relate to the situation, to which Strong’s Carano said, “Do not associate yourself with me…I am strong, and you are a pile of soup. I am first class and you are a coach.”

Fineman’s Spears then ended the show by saying a small prayer that we all need to be forgiving.
