Liz Truss has been chosen as the next British prime minister, and while 10 Downing Street prepares for her arrival, Larry the cat, the UK Cabinet Office‘s chief mouser since 2011, was spotted outside the residence.

Truss won the vote among Conservative Party members over Rishi Sunak, the former finance minister. In the four years following 2011, the UK has had three different prime ministers Theresa May and Boris Johnson.

Since the time of David Cameron, the British Prime Minister from 2010 to 2016, the brown-and-white tabby has lived at 10 Downing Street. Larry, who was born in 2007, also has a Wikipedia page and a personal Twitter account.

A 31-second video obtained by Reuters depicts Larry the cat relaxing in front of 10 Downing Street while news crews and reporters are stationed outside. The tweet reads, “Larry the cat was spotted outside 10 Downing Street in London after Liz Truss was named the next British prime minister.”

Over 1.44 lakh people have seen the video. 

A Twitter user wrote, “Cat said “Im better off on the street now” and walk away.”

“It’s a cat,” another person wrote, “The cat doesn’t know what is going on either.”

“Larry has been through the wars. He’s got no patience for this nonsense,” wrote a third.

Since being adopted from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home to start his new life in politics at the age of four, Larry has been a dependable companion to three prime ministers.

Liz Truss, the third woman to serve as prime minister after Theresa May and Margaret Thatcher, is the 56th prime minister of the UK.
