Conservatorship is the form of legal guardianship of an adult. Under this, a court appoints a person to manage the conservatee’s financial, health, and personal affairs. Conservatorship is given so that the need of the conservatee can be fulfilled. The decision-makers go through various procedures and then appoint a conservator, who can look after the conservatee%u2019s health, finances, and everything in general.

Financial Conservatorship- Under financial conservatorship, a conservator has full rights over the person or conservatee%u2019s financial expenses. Though the conservatee has full autonomy, they cannot access their own money and investments until they have the signature of the conservator.

Limited- The conservator has legal authority over some aspects of the conservatee%u2019s life. This type of conservatorship is granted when an adult is mentally disabled. This allows the conservator to take care of them and also allows the greatest degree of autonomy possible. They focus on the specific need of a conservatee.

Physical- Under physical conservatorship, the conservator will have authority over the conservatee%u2019s health. They have the liberty to choose where the conservatee will live and how they will receive the healthcare.

General- Under general conservatorship, the conservator will have the authority over the conservatee%u2019s physical, financial, health, and all other decisions. This is the most common type of conservatorship.
