British Politician David Amess died after being stabbed multiple times during a constituency meeting at the Belfairs Methodist Church on Friday. David Amess was a member of parliament from the UK’s Prime Minister Borris Johnson’s Conservative party. He was one of the longest-serving MPs in the UK Parliament and represented Southend West, Essex, since 1997.

Amess was one of the richest and popular UK politicians. David Amess’s net worth is estimated to be around $1.5 million, according to media reports. His main source of income was salary and allowances he received as an MP and for other positions, he worked on. He was a member of parliament for 38 years but never held a ministerial or shadow ministerial post.

Amess earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and government from Bournemouth University. He taught at St John the Baptist Primary School in Bethnal Green for a year (1970–71), and also worked as an underwriter and recruitment consultant.

Amess contested his first general election in 1983 from the Basildon seat for the Labour party and got elected. He worked in various positions during his long career.

From 1997, he was a member of parliament from the Southend West seat.

Amess also served on the Health Select Committee from 1998 until 2007.

He was also known for his long-running campaign to make Southend a city.

Amess has sponsored many parliamentary bills. The Protection Against Cruel Tethering Act (1988), and the Warm Homes and Energy Conservation Act (2000), were two of his significant achievements, both the bills are on the statute book in his name.

David Amess died on October 15, 2021. Amess was receiving treatment at the scene before he succumbed. Police arrested a man following the stabbing and also recovered a knife from the scene.
