Snapchat is down tonight for thousands of users as they were unable to open the app on multiple platforms, while others faced the crashing of the app. Although this isn’t a worldwide outage, thousands of reports are coming in regarding problems with logging in to the popular messaging service.

Several users confirmed that the Snapchat app won’t even open, leaving many cut off from seeing their latest snaps and chats. While others are saying that they can access the normal features but soon after that the app crashes.

One of the affected users wrote on social media,  “I thought it was only me. So I uninstalled Snapchat, and when I wanted to re-enter my login details, it said, “uh, oh. Something went wrong; try again later.”

However, the Snapchat support team shared a message on Twitter confirming that they are aware of tonight’s issues, saying, “We’re aware of an issue preventing some Snapchatters from logging in. Hang tight, we are looking into it and working on a fix!”

It’s still unclear what has caused the outage so far, but over 40,000 reports have been posted on the Downdetector site, making it one of the largest server issues of 2021. Meanwhile, no ETA has been shared for when the Snapchat servers will return to normal or how long the app will keep crashing until it is fixed.
