Monika and Piotr Czarnecka, a married couple were forced to apologize after they were caught cheating at the London Marathon. The two finished the 26.2 miles course around the English capital without incident in October 2021, finishing at the 21,697 spot from 80,000 participants with a time of four hours, 40 minutes, and 58 seconds.

Who are Monica Czarnecka and Piotr Czarnecka?
Monica, 41, and her husband Piotr, 42, caused plenty of drama after they were caught wearing the same registration number (11,250) during the 2021 edition of the London Marathon. The couple is from Amersham in Buckinghamshire.
During an investigation by organizers, it was discovered that Piotr had reproduced his wife’s number after failing to secure a position through the ballot.
“I’m truly sorry for what we’ve done and didn’t want to cause any harm. The supporters were amazing, and their cheering and clapping helped me finish the marathon and it hurts to think that I’ve let them down,” said Monica, reported DailyMail.
According to the investigation, only Monica was allowed to participate in the marathon and Piotr, who could be seen running right beside her, had copied it so he could support her.

Piotr said that he failed to secure a place in the marathon after missing out on the ballot.
“It was all my idea and I take full responsibility for it. I know it’s wrong and I’m truly sorry, but I did what I did to support my wife,” he said.
Registration numbers were issued to participants ahead of the race, which gave Piotr enough time to copy the 11250 number.

Piotr also said that he did not pick up a medal and he had run two Marathons earlier at much quicker times.
The couple had faced a large social media outrage for cheating.
