The Suicide Squad are DC’s answer to extreme situations that require extreme measures, especially scenarios that superheroes are just not enough for.

Task Force X, or as it is nicknamed the Suicide Squad, are a group of charming and talented super-villains who call the infamous Belle Reve Prison home.

The team is assembled by director Amanda “The Wall” Waller for high-risk missions in exchange for commuted prison sentences.

While extremely able, all the team members are seen as an expendable asset who are fitted with explosive devices around their neck to assure obedience.

The Suicide Squad roster is usually kept running with several entries coming through and leaving.

Some of the key members are Deadshot, who is a precise marksman and assassin; Captain Boomerang, the man who turns boomerangs into lethal weapons; Harley Quinn, a peppy but psychotic villain; Enchantress, a powerful sorceress who can wield magical energy; and sometimes field leader Rick Flag, an elite soldier who is one of the only members who isn’t a super-villain.

On the big screen, there have been two versions of the Suicide Squad, one from David Ayer in 2016 and the other from James Gunn in 2021.

The latest Suicide Squad has a completely different plot but is somehow connected to the 2016 version in that it retains some of the characters.

Gunn’s Suicide Squad is a bit of a sequel and a bit of a reboot while also taking form as a standalone movie on whatever else is happening in DCEU.

The new squad includes Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Rick Flag, and new characters Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Ratcatcher 2, Polka-Dot Man, King Shark, Blackguard, Savant, TDK (The Detachable Kid), Mongal, Javelin, and Weasel.
