Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha will perform at halftime during the NFL’s Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit

Bebe Rexha made the announcement earlier in the month on her Instagram page. She will perform at halftime of the Detroit Lions’ game against the Buffalo Bills along with DJ David Guetta.

Rexha hasn’t previously performed at a Thanksgiving halftime show, although in 2016 she performed during the halftime of a game between the Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Rams. 

Who is Bebe Rexha? 

  Bleta Rexha popularly known by her stage name Bebe Rexha is an American pop singer and songwriter. She was born on August 30, 1989, in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City. She was raised along with her brother Florent in Staten Island, New York. She attended Tottenville High School and from her early childhood, she had a special inclination towards music. Rexha played trumpet, guitar, and piano and she was also a part of the high school musical choir. She was highly influenced by Lauryn Hill, Alanis Morissette, the Cranberries, Coldplay, and Kanye West.  

Bebe Rexha’s Career 

Bebe Rexha’s career started when she submitted a song as a youngster to be played at the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences’ yearly “Grammy Day” celebration. Rexha won the  “Best Teen Songwriter” title amongst 700 participants.  Samantha Cox, a talent scout, convinced Rexha to sign a contract and pushed her to join songwriting classes in Manhattan.

In 2010, Rexha collaborated with Pete Wentz and started working together in a New York City recording studio. In the same year, she also joined Black Cards, Wentz’s new experimental band, and took on the role of lead vocalist. The group recorded several singles and remixes while performing a range of live events. Later that year, Bebe Rexha also received the Abe Olman Scholarship for her songwriting accomplishments.

Rexa received massive recognition and gained national prominence in 2013 after signing to Cash Cash’s single Take Me Home.

Rexha is well-recognized for many musical styles, particularly pop. She received her first songwriting credit for Shinee’s K-pop song, the album’s title track, Lucifer, since then she has published music in the hip-hop, alternative rock, R&B, country, rock, dance, and electronic music genres.

She has sung many songs that include Last Hurrah, Say My Name, Meant to Be,  Back to You, and many others. 

In addition to three Billboard Music Awards, Bebe Rexha received an American Music Award in 2018 for her collaboration with Florida Georgia Line on the song Meant to Be.

Apart from being a singer, she is a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. In 2019, Rexha revealed that she is suffering from bipolar disorder.

Recently, Bebe Rexha collaborated with David Guetta and released I’m Good (Blue). The song has been a hit and the two have been performing this song together at many events.
