Jamie Meah was fatally stabbed inside a taxi on Friday, March 31, on Hall Lane Brentwood Terrace in Armley, Leeds. His 16-year-old friend, who was also riding with him in the taxi, sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. 

West Yorkshire Police have launched an investigation into the murder and attempted murder. However, they are yet to make any arrests in the case.

Who is Jamie Meah? 

Jamie Meah, 18, was stabbed to death in Armley, Leeds. 

He was riding a taxi with a friend during rush hour on Friday when another car with three armed occupants chased and attacked them. Per reports, Meah was stabbed through the neck, upper body and leg. 

After being stabbed, Meah ran to a fish and chip shop nearby and collapsed. Even though nearby civilians came to his help and even performed CPR on him, he died from injuries before further medical assistance could be given.

He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Townley, the Senior Investigation Officer in the Homicide and Major enquiry team, said: “Extensive enquiries are being carried out in relation to this murder investigation, our thoughts remain with the victim who has lost his life as a result of a violent attack on the streets of Leeds. We are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident. 

“What we do know is that the two males were in a taxi at the time when they were attacked by three suspects in another vehicle,” he continued.

“I would appeal urgently to anyone who was in the area last night, who may have dash cam footage, or CCTV or mobile phone footage of anything suspicious to come forward.”
