In the teaser of a podcast, JK Rowling said that her abusive ex-husband tried to prevent her from leaving him by withholding the first Harry Potter book’s copy. The 56-year-old said that she was worried that Portuguese TV reporter Jorge Arantes might burn the pages of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone that he was holding ‘hostage.’

She secretly began duplicating a few pages every day after learning where the draft was to make sure her effort wouldn’t be lost.

The Harry Potter author and ex-husband Jorge Arantes have one daughter together named Jessica Rowling Arantes.

Who is Jessica Rowling Arantes?

Jessica Rowling Arantes is British author JK Rowling’s eldest daughter. She was born on July 17, 1993, to the Harry Potter creator and her ex-husband Jorge Arantes.

In 2021, the Daily Mail reported that Avantes was going to tie the knot. However, there are no reports to confirm the marriage. As per BuzzSouthAfrica.com, Jessica is an entrepreneur, make-up artist, and social media influencer.

Eighteen months after Rowling arrived in Porto, Portugal, where she was hired to teach English as a foreign language, she first met Arantes. However, according to The Scotsman, she met Arantes in a bar because they both liked Jane Austen.

On October 16, 1992, the couple got hitched. Nevertheless, they quickly got divorced after their daughter was born in November 1993, and by December, she and Jessica had relocated to Edinburgh in Scotland. By the time the couple divorced in 1994, she had already started writing Harry Potter.

Following the publication of the Harry Potter books, Rowling’s fame increased, and eventually, she found and married Neil Murray, her second husband. On December 26, 2001, the couple exchanged vows in a small ceremony at her Killiechassie House residence in Scotland. On March 24, 2003, Rowling gave birth to David, her second child, with Murray.

Rowling completed the novel and then dedicated it to Mackenzie, her third child she had with Murray on January 23, 2005. Jessica, her eldest daughter, is hardly ever seen in public with her mother and not much is recorded about her in the media.
