Senatorial candidate John Fetterman recently made headlines after he shared a tweet about his opponent Dr. Mehmat Oz on his official Twitter handle.

The tweet read, ” On November 8, we send Dr. Oz back to New Jersey for good.”

For a while, it appeared as though Fetterman, a Democrat running for the Senate, would be Pennsylvania’s next senator without a fight. His accomplishments as a mayor and later as lieutenant governor, along with his easygoing personality, have made him quite well-liked in the state. But Oz, a TV celebrity, who Fetterman criticized for being out of touch and having no ties with the state because he lives in New Jersey, is also a worthy opponent.

John Fetterman, Pennsylvania lieutenant governor and Democratic US Senate candidate,  was also hospitalized after suffering from a stroke.

Giving his health update to everyone concerned about his upcoming primary on Tuesday, Fetterman said that he was “feeling much better.”

“I’m feeling much better, and the doctors tell me I didn’t suffer any cognitive damage. I’m well on my way to a full recovery,” he said.

Fetterman is the favorite to win the Democratic Senate contest. It is believed that he could have a significant lead over Rep. Conor Lamb and state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta.

“I had a stroke that was caused by a clot from my heart being in an A-fib rhythm for too long,” he said in the statement.

Fetterman said he is continuing on in the race despite his health condition.

“Our campaign isn’t slowing down one bit, and we are still on track to win this primary on Tuesday, and flip this Senate seat in November,” he said.

On Friday, Fetterman began canceling events. One of the event was called off at the last moment. At the time, his campaign spokesman Joe Calvello informed the crowd outside Lancaster that Fetterman had woken up not feeling well. However, his campaign did not let anyone know that he was in the hospital.

Lamb, one of Fetterman’s opponents, reacted to the news of his rival’s health saying he and his wife Hayley “are keeping John and his family in our prayers and wishing him a full and speedy recovery.”

Kenyatta also responded to the news: “As I said at the first debate, John is an incredible family man. My prayers are with him and his family as he recovers from this stroke,” Kenyatta said in a statement to CNN. “I look forward to seeing him back on the campaign trail soon!”

Meanwhile, Fetterman did not say how much longer he would be in the hospital.

“They’re keeping me here for now for observation, but I should be out of here sometime soon,” he said in the statement. “The doctors have assured me that I’ll be able to get back on the trail, but first I need to take a minute, get some rest, and recover.”
