Napier Marten is the father of Constance Marten, an aristocrat who along with her partner were arrested after they went missing in early January.

The couple’s baby, who is believed to have been born just before the pair disappeared, is still missing.

Constance Marten, 35, and Mark Gordon, 48, had been “initially arrested on suspicion of child neglect,” but were later “further arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter,” according to London’s Metropolitan Police.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford said in the statement: “Throughout this investigation our key priority has been finding the baby, and we remain committed to that.”

Who is Napier Marten?

Napier Marten is Constance Marten’s father and is also a film and music producer. He is the son of Mary Anna Marten – whose godmother was the late Queen Mother. Napier – who was a page to Queen Elizabeth – owned the Crichel estate in Dorset. He later moved to Australia. He married Virginie de Selliers in 1986 and the couple had four children together. Constance is the oldest of the three. Maximilian was born in 1988, Tobias in 1991, and Frédéric’s birth year is unknown.

In late January, Napier said Constance was “much, much loved, whatever the circumstances,” adding that the family was “deeply concerned” for her and her child’s welfare.

“Darling Constance, even though we remain estranged at the moment, I standby, as I have always done and as the family has always done, to do whatever is necessary for your safe return to us. I beseech you to find a way to turn yourself and your wee (little) one into the police as soon as possible so you and he or she can be protected. Only then can a process of healing and recovery begin, however long it may take, however difficult it may be,” he added.
