Peter Gerard Scully, who is already serving life imprisonment for rape and human trafficking, was found guilty for the second time. A prosecutor announced on Wednesday that an Australian man has been sentenced to 129 years in a Philippine jail as part of a child sexual abuse case involving victims as young as 18 months.

Merlynn Barola-Uy, a regional prosecutor in the southern city of Cagayan de Oro, told AFP, “I hope this sends a very strong message to all abusers, all human traffickers, that crime really does not pay.”

Who is Peter Gerard Scully? 

Peter Gerard Scully was born on January 13, 1963, in Australia. He is an Australian sex offender who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Philippines after being found guilty of five charges of rape by sexual assault and was also accused of human trafficking.

 Peter Scully resided in the Melbourne suburb of Narre Warren with his wife and two children. He fled away to Manila, Philippines in 2011 before he could be charged with his involvement in a property scheme that cost investors more than A$2.68 million. 

On June 2018, he was convicted of human trafficking and rape and was sentenced to life in prison. He remains on trial for numerous other crimes against children like the creation and distribution of satanic child pornography, torture, and murder. 

According to a 2009 Australian Securities & Investments Commission inquiry, Scully was connected to 117 fraud and deceit offenses involving real estate schemes.  

Scully has also been accused of starting an international child sex abuse ring from the island of Mindanao that provided pay-per-view video broadcasts of children being sexually assaulted and tormented on the dark web. A five-year-old who was raped and tormented by Scully and two female accomplices was one of the victims whose ordeals were documented and sold online. The videos were allegedly sold to customers in Germany, the United States and Brazil.

Apart from developing a child sex abuse ring, he has been a part of a cybersex business that filmed teenage girls from impoverished families having sex. He was on trial with others who assisted him in the production of his pornography, including Filipinos Alexander Lao, Christian Rouche, Althea Chia and a Brazilian doctor Haniel Caetano de Oliveira.
