Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX CEO, is the world’s richest man and when he’s not contemplating about “longtermism” or the future of humanity, is an avid gamer as well. The 51-year-old shared a post recently, where a player is asked whether they loot boxes. It follows this up with questions about what it is like to get a loot item from the box before one’s friends do, and whether they get jealous when this happens.

Musk, father of 7, mentioned Saxon James Musk in the caption. This is the billionaire’s son with his first wife, Justine Wilson. Born in January 2006, Saxon is 16 now.

The entrepreneur had an inclination toward gaming from a young age and had some time back posted about his experiences while playing Elden Ring. Thus, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Musk and his son bond over gaming.

Loot boxes are special crates which appear in a game. They result in high-risk high-reward situations since many are gunning for the items and looking to kill anyone who might beat them to the box. The first one to a loot crate can pick among all the special items, and might even take one which other teammates want. Considering the rarity of the items and the slim chances of coming across too many loot boxes without increasing risk and compromising on one’s chances of winning, there’s often jealousy among teammates if one makes off with an item that the other person wants.

Musk seems to be engaging in some casual banter, but the innovator has mostly kept his family out of his Twitter space.

The comment comes after Musk’s father, Errol, said in an interview that he favoured Kimbal over Elon. The South African patriarch had also indicated that he wasn’t proud of his son and agreed with Elon’s assessment that he was falling behind on his career, considering he’s in his fifties.
