A horrible occurrence occurred on Friday night at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro, when a 23-year-old fan of Taylor Swift, died. The woman has been identified as Ana Clara Benevides.

It is thought that she suffered a heart arrest when she fainted during the event, as stated by her cousin Estela Benevides and the Brazilian newspaper Folha De Sao Paolo.

The young fan was given some medical attention by on-site doctors, but sadly, they were unable to revive him. Swift was seen on social media appealing to stadium employees to give concertgoers water, clearly showing her concern.

The pop sensation later stated that Benevides had died before the performance in a statement. It’s still unknown if the deceased woman was a part of the group Swift was referring to. Rio de Janeiro was under a heat advisory when the incident happened.

A local heat warning was issued on Friday due to the extreme heat that Rio de Janeiro experienced, with temperatures hitting 100°F and feeling considerably hotter at 109°F, according to USA Today. The uncomfortable weather that concertgoers endured during the performance was probably a contributing factor.

The stadium’s temperature reached almost 100 degrees Fahrenheit during Taylor Swift’s concert. As a result, the 33-year-old pop artist had to briefly stop her performance to make sure some of the fervent audience members had access to water.

Swift used Instagram after the show to share her shock and grief over the horrific event. She said, “It’s unbelievable that I’m writing these words, but it is with a broken heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show,” in her touching statement. The extent of my devastation at this cannot even be expressed.
