Today, 45-year-old Emily Morgan lost her battle with lung cancer after a brief illness. The ITV News’ Health and Science Editor had been with the organization for 23 years.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our remarkable colleague, Emily Morgan,” said Andrew Dagnell, editor of ITV Network News.

“Emily was not only an incredibly talented journalist, but a much-loved member of the ITV Newsroom and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.”

She “played a pivotal role in shaping our coverage through some of the most important stories of our time.” he continued.

During the pandemic, Emily visited hospitals and spoke with front-line healthcare professionals for a number of her stories.

She “continues to inspire,” according to Andrew, and her “passion” for the news “is a constant reminder of why journalism matters.”

In her closing remarks, the editor said that “her friendship, her professionalism, and her enormous contribution to our industry and to the public conversation will not be forgotten.”

The royal editor of the television network, Chris Ship, also posted a tweet in honor of his friend.
He remarked, “She was such a beautiful person and a dear friend.”

He added that she was “talented, kind, full of humanity”.

NHS England also paid tribute to the journalist on Twitter, posting: “Everyone at NHS England deeply saddened to hear this terrible news. “Emily was a brilliant journalist whose coverage of Covid in particular was exceptional. She will be hugely missed and our thoughts are with her colleagues, friends and, most of all, her family.”
