A second woman was reported dead on Monday from the deadly crush at O2 Brixton Academy on Thursday, December 15. The Daily Mail reported that Gabrielle Hutchinson, a 23-year-old, died from the injuries on Monday morning at a local hospital.

Rebecca Ikumelo, a 33-year-old mother of two, died at the hospital on Saturday in the same incident. A third woman, reportedly 21-year-old, is still in the hospital and her condition is critical.

All of them were in the foyer of the O2 Brixton Academy building during the incident last week.

Who was Gabrielle Hutchinson?

Gabrielle Hutchinson is a 23-year-old London resident who was working at the O2 Brixton Academy as a contracted security provider for the Asake concert. Hutchinson sustained serious injuries after large numbers of ticketless fans tried to forcefully enter the venue for Asake’s sold-out concert.

The Metropolitan Police is currently investigating the incident and Met’s Specialist Crime Command detectives have been given the task of finding answers to why it happened. The detectives have appealed to witnesses to come forward and help out with the probe.

They are also examining the CCTV footage, phone recordings, and also conducting a deep forensic search to come up with answers to the many unanswered questions that remain.

“It is devastating news that a second person has lost their life following the events on Thursday,” Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove, policing commander for Lambeth and Southwark, told The Daily Mail in a statement. 

‘I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to Gabrielle’s family at this unimaginably difficult time,” he added.
