Indian woman Reeta Sahani was reported missing by her husband, Jakesh Sahani, on Monday when he woke up in the middle of the night and realized she was not in their cabin aboard the Spectrum of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. After active search efforts, her family confirmed the news of her death on Tuesday.

Reeta Sahani’s son, Apoorv, announced on Twitter that the family had received security footage that verified his mother’s death. In a tweet, he wrote, “With the footage, we have unfortunately learned that my mother has passed away.”
Who was Reeta Sahani?
Reeta Sahani was 64 years old. She was the wife of Jakesh Sahani. The advanced overboard detection system on the Spectrum of the Seas discovered a situation where something had gone overboard.
At around 7:50 on Monday morning, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center was immediately alerted to the discovery. According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the notification stated that a passenger had gone overboard in the Singapore Strait.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) announced that the search and rescue operations have been handed over to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Singapore. They quickly coordinated the search effort and transmitted navigational safety information to all ships in the Singapore Strait as well as those docked.
Apoorv Sahani, Reeta Sahani’s son, voiced his displeasure with the cruise line on Twitter on Monday. He asserted that cruise ship workers had told him that his mother had dived overboard, but he chastised the firm for keeping the surveillance film to themselves and for appearing to distance themselves from the incident.

Apoorv denied that his mother went overboard on purpose, saying that she couldn’t swim. He expressed doubts about the concern he had about her activities, as reported by the Straits Times.
