Ricky Martin, a popular Puerto Rican singer, was publicly accused of having relations with his own nephew.

According to the Mexican newspaper El Universal, Martin was recently accused of domestic violence. The singer’s own nephew, according to the publication, was the person who accused Martin of domestic violence.

El Universal’s fresh findings come only days after it was revealed that Martin had been served with a restraining order. According to the Puerto Rican publication El Vocero, the restraining order was issued by a person who dated Martin for several months.

As per the restraining order, after Martin and the individual broke up, Martin wanted to continue the connection and went to the individual’s house on multiple occasions, the El Vocero report said.

According to the Associated Press, El Vocero reported, “The petitioner fears for his safety.”

Axel Valencia, a spokesperson for the Puerto Rican police, told the Associated Press earlier this month that authorities were unable to locate Martin, but that the restraining order would prevent Martin from contacting the person who filed it.

Martin published a comment on Twitter shortly after the restraining order was announced, rejecting the allegations.

“The protection order entered against me is based on completely false allegations, so I will respond through the judicial process with the facts and dignity that characterize me,” Martin claimed in the statement. “Because it is an ongoing legal matter, I cannot make detailed statements at this time. I am grateful for the countless messages of solidarity, and I receive them with all my heart.”

Martin’s representatives told the Associated Press, “We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.”

According to El Vocero, Martin’s brother, Eric, revealed that the restraining order was requested by the singer’s nephew.

“Something is telling me that I have to speak, because I am not afraid to speak, or anything. I am not afraid and I do not have to hide anything,” Eric reportedly said while speaking of the restraining order.

According to El Universal, if an individual is found guilty of having a sexual connection with a family member, they might receive a fixed prison sentence of 50 years, as per Peurto Rican law.

“They will be sanctioned with imprisonment for a fixed term of 50 years those people who have a relationship of kinship, ascending or descending; by consanguinity, adoption or affinity or collateral by consanguinity or adoption up to the third degree; or for sharing or having physical custody,” the law reportedly states. “And that on purpose they carried out a vaginal or anal sexual act, whether genital, digital or instrumental.”
