Laura Spears from Oakland County discovered that she had won a $3 million lottery when checking for a missing email in the spam folder. In an unexpected manner, Laura stumbled upon the huge prize she had won.

The 55-year-old woman had bought a ticket on  MichiganLottery.com for the ‘December 31 Mega Millions’. She had won a $1 million prize but thanks to the Megaplier, her prize amount got multiplied by three times. Each Mega Millions play is only or $2 but players have an opportunity to add a “Megaplier” that can multiply their non-jackpot prizes by upto five times.

Laura had bought a ticket on her account as soon as she saw an ad on Facebook stating that the Mega Millions jackpot had been getting pretty high. It was only when she opened her spam folder in her email account, a message from the Michigan Lottery caught her eye. In the email she had discovered unexpectedly, she found that she had won a huge prize for the ticket she had then bought.

Spears recently visited the lottery headquarters to claim her $3 million. She also stated that she has taken measures to prevent the same situation from occurring in the future. She said to the Michigan Lottery Officials, “I definitely added  Michigan Lottery to my safe senders list just in case I ever get lucky enough to receive another email about a huge prize.”

She also said that she would share the prize with her family. She believes that the prize money will help her plan for an early retirement, which she had always wanted. The way Spears discovered her lottery fortune has not only surprised people at how fortune might knock on one’s door but it also made them go through their spam folders for the prizes they could have possibly missed!
