The twenty-first century fast-paced lifestyle quite often leads to health issues. In today’s world, diabetes has become a major health issue all over the world. This issue is addressed on World Diabetes Day, which is observed annually on November 14. Diabetes is a long-term health condition in which the body is unable to control high blood sugar levels.

Here are five fruits that can help diabetics control their blood sugar levels: 

Green Apples

Diabetics should eat green apples because they are regarded as superfoods. This fruit is high in soluble fibres, niacin, zinc, iron, and other trace metals, all of which help control blood sugar. Green apples have a low sugar content as well. Red apples should be avoided due to their high sugar content.

Oranges 

Citric fruits have anti-diabetic properties. Oranges, in particular, have a low glycemic index, making them good for diabetics. Furthermore, oranges are abundant in Vitamin C, flavonoid antioxidants, and fibre. 

Pear 

Pear has a low glycemic index, so it won’t spike your blood sugar levels. Vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, and B9 are plentiful in a pear. Additionally, the fruit is also rich  fibre and antioxidants, as well as carotenoids.  

Jamun

Jamun is extremely beneficial for those with diabetes. It’s high in vitamins A, C, Group B, and D, all of which can help lower the risk of high blood sugar. 

Guava 

Guavas are low in sodium and high in potassium, in addition to having a low glycemic index. This is critical for a diabetic’s well-being. Guavas also have four times the amount of vitamin C as oranges.
