Actor Dhanush wraps up shooting for Aanand L Rai’s ‘AtrangiRe’
- The filming of AtrangiRe resumed last October after being halted midway due to the pandemic
- The film also stars Sara Ali Khan and features Akshay Kumar in a 'special role'
- 'Atrangi Re' will feature music by AR Rahman with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil
Tollywood actor Dhanush on Monday wrapped up shooting for Aanand L Rai’s ‘AtrangiRe’. He announced the news in an Instagram post, in which he can be seen with Rai and the film’s writer Himanshu Sharma. “AtrangiRe” reunites Dhanush, Rai and Sharma after their 2013 critical hit “Raanjhanaa”.
“‘AtrangiRe’ wrapped. Thank you @aanandirai and Himanshu. Love you both,” Dhanush captioned the photo.
The film also stars Sara Ali Khan and features Akshay Kumar in a “special role”.
“AtrangiRe”, which went on floors last March before the coronavirus pandemic halted its shoot, resumed filming in Madurai last October and followed it up with a schedule in Delhi.
Earlier on March 27, Akshay Kumar, in an Instagram post shared his look from the last day of the shoot.
“It’s the last day of #AtrangiRe and I can’t wait for you’ll to experience the magic created by @aanandlrai,” the 53-year-old actor captioned the post, alongside a photo of him dressed as a magician and holding the King of Hearts card.
Kumar thanked his co-stars Khan and Dhanush for having him on board for the film.
“Also a big thank you to my co-stars @saraalikhan95 and @dhanushkraja for letting me be a part of this beautiful film,” he said.
“Atrangi Re” will feature music by AR Rahman with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.
The project is a joint production of Colour Yellow Productions, T-Series and Kumar’s Cape Of Good Films, is set to release on August 6.
Besides “Atrangi Re”, Kumar will also star in six other movies — “Sooryavanshi”, “Prithviraj”, “Ram Setu”, “Raksha Bandhan”, “Bachchan Pandey” and “Bell Bottom”.
With music by AR Rahman, “AtrangiRe” is set to be released theatrically on August 6.
Last week, Dhanush and Manoj Bajpayee were named the joint winners of the best actor National Film Award for their performances in “Asuran” and “Bhonsle”, respectively.
