Whitney Heard, Amber Heard‘s younger sister, slammed the MTV Video Music Awards for inviting Johnny Depp to make a cameo appearance. Depp made a surprise appearance as the Moon Man at the award ceremony last month. Depp’s appearance on the awards show comes three months after he won a defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Whitney displayed her support for Amber on Instagram Stories and also shared a graphic with the DVMAs hashtag and an astronaut’s picture on the moon (a reference to Depp’s Moon Man appearance).

“@MTV you’re disgusting and clearly desperate! I really hope that none of the people that made this call have daughters,” she wrote.

At the 2022 VMAs, Johnny Depp made a Moon Man appearance. With his face digitally put into the helmet of the iconic astronaut costume, he gave the impression that he was floating from the ceiling. And, what do you know? During his presentation, Depp stated, “I needed the work. Depp later announced that he was available for “birthdays, bar mitzvahs, marriages, wakes, whatever old thing you need.”

After dating for several years, Depp and Amber got hitched in a private ceremony at their Los Angeles home in 2015. On May 23, 2016, she obtained a temporary restraining order against him and filed for divorce. Amber said that during their relationship, Depp had physically mistreated her, most frequently when under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Depp had sued Amber for $50 million, claiming she defamed him when she called herself a victim of domestic abuse in a Washington Post op-ed she wrote in 2018.

She counter-sued him for $100 million. Both the actors had alleged that the other person abused them throughout their short-lived marriage from 2015-17. Depp had lost a previous libel case in the UK he had filed against the tabloid The Sun, which called him a “wife-beater.”
