Back to the future: Fans, stars to appear as holograms on BAFTA TV awards
- Nominees for this year's TV awards can opt for holographic projections of themselves
- This feature can also be availed by fans
- The British Academy Television Awards ceremony will be held on 6 June
British Academy is taking virtual to the next level as the BAFTA TV Awards will feature stars and fans appearing as holograms, the Academy said.
Nominees for this year’s TV awards can opt for holographic projections of themselves if they cannot attend the 6 June ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions. The technology will help TV stars, who may be restricted to production filming bubbles, to make an appearance. This can also be availed by fans wanting to walk side by side with their favourite stars on the red carpet.

Although no members of the public will be able to attend in-person to catch a glimpse of their favourite TV stars due to the ongoing pandemic, they can sign up for the futuristic hologram treatment.
The fans who are successful in making that list will have a chance to choose their favourite celebrity and ask them a question live on the red carpet. They will also get to choose a digital red carpet outfit for themselves and get introduced to the world by presenters Vick Hope and Stacey Dooley, the Guardian reported.
