Steve McQueen’s ‘Small Axe’ and ‘The Crown’ lead the nominations pack for the British Academy Television Awards with 15 and 10 nominations respectively in total across the main category and craft list.

The nominees for the BAFTA TV Awards, Britain’s equivalent of the Emmys, were announced on Wednesday night.

‘Small Axe’ is a series of dramas exploring the experiences of London’s West Indian community from the 1960s to the 1980s. Academy Award-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen received the best-director nomination for the BBC series along with acting nominations for John Boyega, Letitia Wright, Shaun Parkes, Malachi Kirby and Micheal Ward.
