Dharma have blatantly misused our title: Madhur Bhandarkar hits out at Karan Johar
- Karan Johar’s new Netflix show has been titled 'Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives'
- Bhandarkar says that the title has alreday been registered with him
- Dharma have blatantly tweaked and misused our title, says the filmmaker
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar took to Twitter to hit out at Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions for using the title for his Netflix show “Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives”. He says that the name has already been registered under him and that the production banner has just tweaked it and “misused it.”
Bhandarkar shared a copy of a letter written by the Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA) to The Film and Television Producers Guild of India.
The copy reads, “We hereby confirm that we allotted the title ‘Bollywood Wives’ for feature film / Web series and Short film to M/s Bhandarkar Entertainment who have now complained that M/s Dharma Productions are violating their rights and you are therefore requested to kindly let us know if the said title is registered by you and we would be obliged for an early reply.”
Guild in response to the letter wrote, “With reference to your mail and the attachments therein, this is to inform you that the Guild has not registered the said title in favour of Dharma Productions.”
Bhandarkar posted that, “When ‘IMPPA’ asked ‘Film Guild of India’ whether @DharmaMovies was given the Title #BollywoodWives where Dharma is a Member. The GUILD replied that they had outrightly rejected the same. That shows Dharma have blatantly tweeked and misused our Title #BollywoodWives. Check.”
The “Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives” will see actor Sohail Khan’s wife Seema Khan, Sanjay Kapoor’s wife Maheep Kapoor, Chunky Pandey’s wife Bhavana Pandey and Neelam Kothari, who is married to Samir Soni, in the lead role. The reality show will premiere on November 27
