Dharmendra announces sequel of 2007 hit Apne

Dharmendra on Sunday announced the sequel of 2007 smash-hit film ‘Apne’, which
featured the actor for the first time alongside his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, PTI reported.

Directed by Anil
Sharma, who had in the past directed ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’, the film which can
be categorized as a sports drama features Dharmendra as a former boxer who
tries to redeem his lost fame inside the ring through his sons.

“With His blessings, your good wishes,
we have decided to give you ‘Apne 2’,” the Bollywood veteran wrote on Twitter,
alongside a clip from the original film.

The shooting for the flick is set to
start around mid-2021.

Dharmendra further said that he is
grateful to all his admirers, replying to a fan’s comment on Twitter who wished
him wished him well for the project.

He also noted that the film will be
based in the ‘modern’ era.

Apart from the Deols, ‘Apne’ will also
be starring Katrina Kaif, Shilpa Shetty and Kirron kher, who also appeared in the original 2007 production.
