The 67th Filmfare Awards 2022 were held on August 30, 2022. The award ceremony was hosted by Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor. Actress Kriti Sanon made an appearance in a red slit dress. She received the Best Actress in a Leading Role award for her performance in Mimi.

Before heading inside the venue Kriti Sanon was asked by the ETimes, if she were to bring a date on the red carpet from the industry, who would she get? To which the actress replied, “I wish I had one, he would have been here. I don’t know. Who is single now? It’s really tricky…honestly speaking, There are no single men”. 

Speaking to ETimes, the actress also reminisced about her journey saying, “I started thinking of becoming an actor after I got my debut and everything, of being nominated in the Best Actor category, and it has happened this time after 8 years. I am really looking forward to it and just very excited about the moment.”

Sanon’s Mimi co-stars, Sai Tamhankar and Pankaj Tripathi won Best Actor in Supporting Role. 

Mimi is a 2021 comedy drama movie directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films. The movie is a remake of a Marathi film, Mala Aai Vhhaychy! (2011). The movie stars Sanon in the titular role who opts to be a surrogate mother for a foreign couple. The movie made a digital release through Netflix and JioCinema on July 30, 2021. 

The movie is considered as one of the best performances of Kriti Sanon’s career. The movie also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Sai Tamhankar, Manoj Pahwa, Supriya Pathak, Evelyn Edwards and Adian Whytock.

The actress starred in Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017), Luka Chuppi (2019), Dilwale (2015) and Housefull 4 (2019).She also appeared in Forbes India’s celebrity 100 list in 2019.
